FireBlueSun had a blast playing at the Tritone open mike hosted by the Absolute Zero’s this past Tuesday. This is one of the better open mikes that we have enjoyed playing at, and we really enjoyed checking out the local talent. Thanks to all who came through and for all the compliments on our performance.

Fire Blue Sun will be heading on down to the Tritone this coming Tuesday, 8/26/08 to perform at their open mike.

The Tritone is located @ 1508 South Street, Philadelphia, PA. Come on through around 8pm to catch us and the other local talent from the Philadelphia area. Guaranteed to be a blast.

This will be the first time we will be performing with the full band, some come on through and check us out.

Fire Blue Sun will be performing @ Quazstock on July 19th in Mickleton, New Jersey. This is a private event/ Huge Kegger…. We’re looking forward to it.

Also performing will be the band Quagmire.

We will also be performing on September 17 with Acoustic Philly @ the Tritone in center city Philadelphia.

Fire Blue Sun’s members Liz and Jimmy teamed up with bassist/producer Brian Hopely a while back to do a remake for Frank over at Sound Gems Recordings. Frank asked us to see what we could do with this song from Lunar, one of the labels artists. You can find it on our Home and MySpace pages.

With all thats been going on, we haven’t had a chance to introduce the newest members of the Band. So, since our bassist Dave just joined the ranks, I figured it was a good time to update.

Dave came about as a result of our search (see below) for a bassist. (just a quick note to thank everyone who replied for their interest, and positive feedback). Dave’s funky style fit nicely into the mix and was the first person that I’ve seen come through that really did his homework… tabs and all.

Mike, our guitar player, has been with us for about 2 months and has been helping shape a new ambiance to the band’s sound with his ambient overdubs and solos. We’ve had a couple other guitars players sit in in the past, but Mike’s style seems to fit much, much better. Mike is a tattoo artist working over at Tru Blu Tatoo, 247 Mill Street in Bristol, PA (if anyone is looking for some new ink).

Russ, our drummer, has been with us for about 5 months or so. He brings his unique style and rhythms with him on either a kit or hand drums providing solid beats that I’m sure move any crowd. Long story short, Russ was the original pick for who we wanted for a drummer over four years ago when this band formed. We luckily ran into him not to long back by coincidence and invited him out to check us out. He dug the sounds and decided to hop on board, as it seems it was suppose to be.

So yeah, we are all having a great time learning old music and developing new music and feeding off of each others talents and vibe. Stay tuned for more pics and new tunes coming soon… here is a picture of the full band… (Liz and Jimmy included…)

Liz and I met up to grab some drinks in the city and scouted out this open mike night. We had a lot of fun for a last minute, unplanned gig and got the chance to jam some tunes for the bar. We played Runaway, Chasing the Dragon, Spiral Ledge and Glad. We also got the chance to meet some new friends at the bar in the back, and even ran into some musician friends we met from playing up at John and Peter’s in New Hope. Thanks all, for the positive feedback and support.

We had a blast playing at the Dawson St. Had the chance to check out some really cool acts, such as Narco Lolo, whom I think run the a show over at the crossroads coffee house weekly. Regardless, it was fun and below are some pics.

Fire Blue Sun snuck out to the Mugs (211 S. Main Street, Doylestown) open mike this past Thurs. It was our first time jamming live @ Mugs, and it was a great crowd and a warm response. Our new drummer, Russ Gale, and a newly found friend from the bar were keeping the beats tight, and we blew through a great set that included Chasing the Dragon, Spiral Ledge, Runaway, But I know, and Home. We’d like to thank all who came out for support, and all those who were feeling the vibe. Special thanks go out to Vikki from Hipnosis Tribal Belly Dance for snapping the pictures. Thanks again you for your support.

Fire Blue Sun performed @ John and Peter’s Open Mike Night, in New Hope PA. Not only did we enjoy the other performances that night, but after out set, we got the chance to jam with the fella’s from Blue Sky Invention when the boys came through @ the end of the night and began drum circle bliss. It was a blast. Thanks also to all the people who were hanging out and diggin’ the sounds especially for all of the positive feedback

Fire Blue Sun played a killer show as the featured act @ the Dive with the hosts and organizers of Acoustic Philly, Mike and Josh. Great performers that night the acoustic philly website has links to many of musicians pages. Those guys lined us up with a gig @ the Rotunda in University City, Philadelphia on FRIDAY, AUGUST 25TH 7:30PM – MIDNIGHT. Wanna throw a shout out to King Solomon, bassist for Days are Golden, for coming out and hanging out. Good to see ya dude.
